“The amygdala in the emotional center sees and hears everything that occurs to us instantaneously and is the trigger point for the fight or flight response “, Daniel Goleman.
Many years ago I had hoped that it wouldn’t take long before most would finally give up searching for viral/bacterial/hormonal or other CAUSES offibromyalgia and agree with my theory that this demon is caused by a hyper-aroused nervous system is highly sensitive anxious persons! My book was the first to write about that and now I find that in the magazine Psychology Today, August 2011, an article was written by Andrea Bartz, suggests that as well!
I have laid out these ideas as fibromyalgia= highly sensitive persons who have had acute or chronic trauma in their lives (psychological and/or physical) and have developed a hyper-aroused nervous system, chronic anxiety, and amygdala that is hyper-responsive to fight or flight tendencies. This is called central sensitization, that is, being hypersensitive to sounds, stress, weather changes, light, and many other conditions that can affect the nervous system and which develop slowly over time.
What has not yet been documented by many is why it is perceived to be more prevalent in women, or at least why it is reported more frequently by them. I developed this theory further than what I have just cited and suggest that because the majority of women in society are generally the caregivers of others and have developed highly intuitive empathetic personality traits, they are more prone to a predisposition to fibromyalgia if they are overlyempathetic. But, this is a somewhat simplistic view as many men are also highly sensitive, and the relatively recent documentation of men suffering from PTSD is now gaining more credibility. All people who are highly sensitive persons and are overly empathetic /overly compassionate, and suffer greatly fromchronic anxiety are prone to fibromyalgia. I realize that there are many men with fibromyalgia who also are HSPs.
As roles change somewhat in society and more HSP men become highly empathetic caregivers it may be that fibromyalgia will have been under-reported in men in the past. Not all caregivers are overly empathetic, but interestingly, in the hundreds of people I have interviewed either formally or informally, I have found nurses and social workers to have a high rate of fibromyalgia, particularly if they themselves have experienced severe trauma in their own lives. The key is not female vs males, but rather certain personality traits set up conditions that often result in fibromyalgia. Interestingly, I read recently that children who had a mother who was depressive had a larger amygdala than the usual size of the amygdala. Could it be that these children were raised in a somewhat unstable home situation, always on the alert, always anxious? Too early to even speculate about these new findings in the research. Even more dangerous is the idea that the mother is responsible for one more bad thing in a person’s life! Mother blaming has been far too common in the past.
I have one major differing theory about HSPs than the psychologist, Elaine Aron, and the article was written by Bartz: I do not believe that we are necessarily born with the tendency, but that it is primarily socially induced. However, neither the psychologists nor I, the sociologist, can prove this point and I am not sure it needs validation. More to the point, there is the possibility of changing the brain and establishing new pathways. Living as an HSP may be appreciated that it can be a gift, but it can also be a burden. There are numerous strategies I have described elsewhere and it is too bad that those who write about HSPs do not focus on them in order to make our lives less prone to intense sensitivity.
This is the 64 million dollar question. I wish I could answer it but fibromyalgia is complicated and so are its causes. However, I will say that I’m sure it’s connected to the evil quad that is causing so many people to be sick these days: antibiotic use, too much sugar in the diet, a sterile, nutrient-free, toxin overloaded food supply (thanks to agribusiness) and bad chemicals in all the plastics our foods are packaged in.
That said, here are things that have been mentioned as issues and causes: Epstein Barr virus, car accidents or other trauma, surgery, a disorder of the gut biome, hypothyroid, POTS. I can tell you my own disease progression: it started with IBS in my 20’s. I was working in ICU, a very intense, high-stress job.
In my 30’s I got married and worked in a doctor’s office and my health improved. Then around 40, I was having muscle problems. I had bronchitis twice in 6 months, with 10-day courses of augmentin (a broad-spectrum antibiotic) each time. The muscle trouble worsened to the point I asked my Dr for a course of physical therapy.
I did the Wharton stretch method, which helped. I walked a lot and got about 90% of my health back. Then I started bleeding very heavily with my menses and had to have a hysterectomy at the age of 44. I got worse again. At 46 I was in a minor car accident, broadsided at a stoplight when I had the right of way.
I wasn’t cut, and I didn’t break any bones, but it put me into a fibromyalgia crisis, where all my muscles spasmed, and I had a nerve pinch down my left arm that lasted a month. I found a book at that time called Myofascial Pain and Dysfunction. As a result of reading it, I went to a physiatrist who diagnosed me with fibromyalgia and said, “ I can’t help you”.
That was devastating! I’d never heard of the disease, so I went straight to Barnes and Noble and bought a book, which said basically,” You hurt like hell, no one knows why, and learn to live with it” Over the years I’ve learned to get off sugar and gluten, but a little dark chocolate is ok.
Eat organics when possible, particularly meats, eat lots of raw veggies and a moderate amount of fruit. Keep exercising and stretching, but gently. Walking, Pilates and tai chi are good. Swimming is only good in a warmed saltwater pool. Take probiotics for your gut. Get your thyroid levels for both T3 and T4 checked.
Adrenal stress goes along with this disease. It can cause you to leach potassium which will make you feel exhausted and make your heartbeat irregularly. I supplement prescription-strength potassium daily. I also supplement magnesium malate, vitamin B12 SL, and Omega 3 fish oil, and I put flax oil in my fruit and veggie smoothies.
I tried Cymbalta, Prozac, Plavix at different times, and found them not to be helpful. My strict diet is what keeps the pain away. I’m usually at a level 2–3, which I can bear. In the beginning, it was at 5–7, which is hard to live with. I hope you figure out what helps you. Good luck!
Fibromyalgia is a disorder characterized by generalized musculoskeletal pain accompanied by fatigue, sleep, memory, and mood problems. Researchers believe that fibromyalgia amplifies painful sensations by affecting how the brain and spinal cord treat painful and non-painful signals.
Symptoms often begin after an event, such as pain, physical trauma, surgery, infection, or severe psychological stress. In other cases, symptoms gradually accumulate over time without a single trigger event. Women are more likely to develop widespread pain in fibromyalgia than men.
Many people with fibromyalgia also have tension headaches, temporomandibular joint disorders (TMJ), irritable bowel syndrome, anxiety, and depression. Although there is no cure for fibromyalgia, a variety of drugs can help control your symptoms. Exercise, relaxation, and stress reduction measures can also help.
May is month is used as fibromyalgia chronic condition awareness.
Widespread pain. Generalized pain. Pain associated with fibromyalgia is often described as a constant dull pain that lasted at least three months. To be considered widespread, pain should occur on both sides of the body and above and below the waist.
Fatigue. People with fibromyalgia often wake up tired, even if they report sleeping for long periods of time. Sleep is often disturbed by pain, and many patients with fibromyalgia have other sleep disorders, such as restless leg syndrome and sleep apnea.
Cognitive difficulties. A symptom commonly called “fibro fog” impairs the ability to focus, pay attention and focus on mental tasks.
The fibromyalgia symptoms list that we present on this page is an addition to the main Fibromyalgia Symptoms page (our unique perspective on dealing with various fibromyalgia symptoms using our protocol) Why do you NEED an accurate SYMPTOMS LIST?
Well, because there are too many generic inaccurate fibromyalgia symptoms list out there that just state a lot of symptoms, without regard to PRIMARY and SECONDARY, and without regard to the possibility of missing other conditions. Please know that it is IMPERATIVE to distinguish between primary and secondary symptoms so that you do not miss another condition outside of the fibro. That is what we do here. This is not a random list of symptoms because that can be very dangerous. Yes, fibro is complex, but we are supporting the WHOLE you.
Some of the following links will be updated as new and more specific articles are published here on the site. This extended fibromyalgia symptoms list will get you familiar with the various symptoms and treatment options (not false cures) as you study our entire protocol for “eating the fibromyalgia elephant one symptom at a time”.
Whether you have been living with fibromyalgia for much of your lifetime, or are newly diagnosed, our site is designed to be user friendly and help you to live a better quality of life with fibromyalgia.
F-G says, “Check below my fibromyalgia symptoms lists.”
Please trust me when I say that fibromyalgia is a very complex syndrome, and there are no “silver bullets”. But there are solutions that will help us to live a better quality of life.
And, those solutions vary depending on the symptom. If we are going to create a better quality of life, following our protocols is the most effective way, but as always, this is NOT about perfection.
Fibromyalgia often co-exists with other conditions, such as:
Many researchers believe that repeated nerve stimulation provokes the change in the brain and spinal cord of people with fibromyalgia.
This change implies an abnormal increase in the levels of certain chemicals in the brain that signal pain. In addition, brain pain receptors seem to develop some kind of painful memory and become sensitized, which means that they can react excessively to painful and non-painful signals.
There are likely many factors that lead to these changes, including:
Genetics. Since fibromyalgia tends to run in families, there may be certain genetic mutations that can make you more sensitive to the development of the disorder.
Physical or emotional events.Fibromyalgia can sometimes be triggered by a physical event, such as a car accident. Prolonged psychological stress can also trigger the condition.
Pain, fatigue and poor sleep quality associated with fibromyalgia can interfere with your ability to operate at home or at work. The frustration of dealing with an often-misunderstood condition can also lead to depression and health-related anxiety.
Fibromyalgia (fi•bro•mi•al•gi•a) is a condition that causes pain throughout the body (also known as generalized pain), sleep problems, fatigue, and often emotional and mental distress. People with fibro pain symptoms may be more susceptible to pain than people without fibromyalgia. This is called the abnormal treatment of pain perception. Fibromyalgia affects about 4 million American adults or about 2% of the adult population. The cause of fibromyalgia is not known, but it can be treated and managed effectively.
Age. Fibromyalgia can affect people of all ages, including children. However, most people are diagnosed during middle age and you are more likely to have fibromyalgia as you get older.
Some other factors have been weakly associated with the onset of fibromyalgia, but more research is needed to see if they are real. These possible risk factors include:
Sex. Women are twice as likely to have fibromyalgia as men.
Stressful or traumatic events, such as car accidents, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
Repetitive injuries. Injury from repetitive stress on a joint, such as frequent knee bending.
One of the defining attributes of fibromyalgia and myofascial pain is the effect on mobility about the body in time periods of a few hours to days at a time. This is often the result of severely tender “areas” of the fibro body and multiple trigger points which lie in various layers along the fascia and muscle groups.
Fibromyalgia symptoms are most debilitating when they affect the brain, head, or face. This is due to the close proximity within all of our senses and the effect on them.
Moreover, the fibromyalgia symptoms that affect this area are quite diverse, creating emotional effects; sleep disturbance; hyper sensitivity to lights, noise, and chemical toxins; and all are accompanied by pain ranging from acute and throbbing to incessant dull ache. Mitigating these varied symptoms is just as varied.
GI issues on the fibromyalgia symptoms list are often exacerbated by a common co-condition, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, which has more serious GI tract problems than fibro alone.
However, symptom relief for either pretty much follows the same protocol. Working as a colon therapist for many years, I have utilized some effective, non-invasive remedies to ease symptoms of IBS, constipation and spastic colon.
A couple of the items on the fibromyalgia symptoms list in this category deserve a tip. I personally don’t have much problem with heat, but cold is a different matter. My greatest “cold” issues usually occur in the spring or fall when weather fronts often move thru accompanied by a drop-in temperature. Being better prepared for weather change is essential with fibromyalgia.
Also, the “sensitive to touch” symptom is quite different from the allodynia symptom in which any touch is intolerable. TRPs and the fascia are usually involved in simple “sensitive to touch”. In this case manipulation can be done and some relief can be realized.
In this category of the fibromyalgia symptoms list I just want to explain why MCS (Multiple Chemical Sensitivity) is listed here as well as in the above category of “Brain/Head/Face. I’ve had severe MCS since a young age, and it can be very debilitating. With MCS, it’s all about avoiding exposures.
But, when exposed, the effects in the Head area are really bad and come on quickly; but that’s not the end of the story because MCS is like the worst “endocrine disrupter” really, and associated symptoms can last for days. So, you are probably saying to yourself ” but I don’t have MCS”. Well, hear me out…
Sure, I’m hyper-sensitive to all manner of toxins; but in my years of working with fibro sufferers, I’m convinced that most people with fibromyalgia also react to those same toxins. In a twisted kind of way I’m lucky because my reactions are so “cause and effect” obvious.
When I am exposed, I know it immediately; and, I know my fibro is going to flare. It always does. I’m also convinced that your fibro flares when you are exposed to those same toxins, but you probably don’t make the association in your mind because it’s not as evident as with me.
Consequently, I believe that many fibro sufferer’s fibromyalgia symptoms are exacerbated by the toxins in our everyday lives such as dryer sheets, perfume, deodorant, formaldehyde in our carpet and furniture, and many other sources. You can do something to protect yourself, I have. It is important that we create a safe haven in our own homes. Read more about this on the Environmental Toxins page by clicking on the multiple chemical sensitivity link in the folowing fibromyalgia symptoms list.
Although not listed here, you can also use the SITEMAP to access the articles on “Leaky Gut” and “Underactive Thyroid” (often part of lowered immune symptoms) There are also viral co-conditions such as Epstein Barr, anaplasma and mycoplasma that can exacerbate symptoms within fibromyalgia when these viruses are found through blood testing.
Fibromyalgia can be treated and managed effectively with medication and self-management strategies. You can learn more about self-management strategies in the next section entitled How can I improve my quality of life?
Fibromyalgia should be treated by a doctor or team of health professionals specializing in the treatment of fibromyalgia and other types of arthritis, called rheumatologists. Doctors usually treat fibromyalgia with a combination of treatments, which may include:
Medications, including prescription drugs and over-the-counter pain relievers
Patient education classes, usually in primary care or community settings
Stress management techniques such as meditation, yoga, and massage
Good sleep habits to improve the quality of sleep
Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) to treat the underlying depression. CBT is a type of talk therapy meant to change the way people act or think
In addition to medical treatment, people can manage their fibromyalgia with the self-management strategies described below, which have been shown to reduce pain and disability, so they can perform important activities for themselves.
Fibromyalgia can cause pain, disability, and a lower quality of life. US adults with fibromyalgia may have complications such as:
More hospitalizations. If you have fibromyalgia you are twice as likely to be hospitalized as someone without fibromyalgia.
Lower quality of life. Women with fibromyalgia may experience a lower quality of life.
Higher rates of major depression. Adults with fibromyalgia are more than 3 times more likely to have major depression than adults without fibromyalgia. Screening and treatment for depression are extremely important.
Higher death rates from suicide and injuries. Death rates from suicide and injuries are higher among fibromyalgia patients, but overall mortality among adults with fibromyalgia is similar to the general population.
Get physically active. Experts recommend that adults be moderately physically active for 150 minutes a week. Walk, swim or bike 30 minutes a day for five days a week. These 30 minutes can be divided into three separate ten-minute sessions during the day. Regular physical activity can also reduce the risk of developing other chronic diseases such as heart disease and diabetes. Learn more about physical activity for arthritis. You can exercise alone or participate in a fitness program recommended by CDC.
Go to recommended physical activity programs. Those who are concerned about how to exercise safely can participate in physical activity programs that have proven to be effective in reducing arthritis pain and disability and improving mood and ability to move. Courses are held in local Ys, parks, and community centers. These courses can help you feel better. Learn more about CDC recommended physical activity programs.
Join a self-management education class, that helps people with arthritis or other conditions, including fibromyalgia, have more confidence in how to control their symptoms, live well and understand how the disease affects their lives. Learn more about CDC’s recommended self-management programs.
In specific, individuals deal with very common diseases which ‘ feel like itchy ‘ and which have no meaning: fibromyalgia. So, according to specialists “the age of the condition,” we will safeguard your mystery, although it will be quite prevalent with this disease, by negatively affecting the life quality that permeates every aspect of our lives.
Therefore widespread muscle weariness, headache, tiredness, fatigue, tiredness, sleeping disorders, sometimes with an issue which we also experience toilet spastic colitis chronic disease.
Although all these appearances are still in excellent shape
However, the first diagnosis information shows that the individual begins from a location of pain that spreads all over the body.
It was defined as flammable. Disturbances of sleep; sleep a lot; insomnia at times: sleep is not backed by a person’s mood and therefore starts to get worse. Burning pain can sometimes be followed by a feeling of imbalance in relation to the above symptoms.
Some of the symptoms used for diagnosis are depression and anxiety.
Depression and social isolation may trigger fibromyalgia.
This impact is due to the physical and psychological tension of the FMS.
This decreases the workloads that can lead to job losses and still revenue.
Fibromyalgia is still not fully recognized despite the incidence of rare disease causes.
However, the most delicate and delicate personality in
humans has all been noted.
Therefore as many other symptoms are similar, fibromyalgia, together with other diseases, is one of the most common. So, the laboratory also provides specific tests for the illness. Because in this point, people who criticize the accuracy of these examinations make complaints.
Actually, fibromyalgia is a type of community syndrome.
(This is why it is often mistaken for other illnesses). Because the symptoms happen at the same moment, the probability that the disease or disease omen develops is too high.
Therefore place fibromyalgia diagnosed by individuals; pursue symptoms and complaints for three months.
However at least 12 points (the region of the neck of the head, the chest, the hips, the head, the outside side of the elbow, inside the hips, passing the waist of the hip, outside the outside side of the hip, the knee, interior, etc. are susceptible to pain.
However females change hormonal systems (menopause, menstruation), stress, and anxiety, which cause the strength to cope with the condition. In this scenario, the appropriate field is ready for the recurrence of diseases and settlements. Women in menopause also endorsed this and stressed the effectiveness of the study of stress hormones. In addition to physiological reasons such as menopause modifications and hormone equilibrium, menstrual periods of females; absence of habit in a bodily environment overload the body home or make excessive cleaning or often altering factors, such as the place of the house, prepares the soil for fibromyalgia. In other ways, environmental factors such as exposure to cold and heat variations may include the cause of fibromyalgia.
In this group (architects, dentists, and even a desk, brokers, or journalists), perfectionist workers work in a holistic environment where environmental factors are not very appropriate.
Therefore the fibromyalgia statistic in the United States contributes to work loss, and then the price of the lowest ranking in patients receiving second place in cardiovascular illness. Because it also impacts their lives, motivates, and decreases effectiveness. However economy, company, and fibromyalgia’s illness was’ everyday life can also be said.
Over the last 20 years and I am 31 years old I have been facing chronic diseases in multiple forms. As long as I remember I had migraines, and I developed my fibromyalgia 8 years ago.
I like to believe I’m fairly good at handling my pain after all these years. You might actually say that from time to time I am quite crowded with myself. I work in complete, socialize and copy the strategy up to the tee with my colleagues and family. I operate complete time. But there are compromises behind positivity and smiles, there are struggle and times of weakness. Let’s be frank, there are times in which there is such a weariness and frustration only tears.
But while they spend most hours coping, the hardest is an
hour every day.
At 6:00 am, my alarm is gone. All day. Each day. I roll over and snap and have five minutes to sleep before my ear gets the same tinny, furious ringtone again. Again, I struck snooze and we’ve been repeating the 20-minute dance move. I’m so tired that I feel that I can’t be able to sleep tomorrow, and yet my body is so anxious that I’m just desperate for a nice stretch to be up.
For individuals with fibromyalgia, mornings are notoriously hard; we wake up and feel tired, wondering how we will be able to maintain our eyes open during the day. It’s awkward to lying in bed, get up is awkward and yet the thought is awkward. There’s so much to do. The six o’clock. Wake-up is full of fear and I often find my usual positivity searching in the midst of the fibrous fog needs energy I do not have.
As my fourth alarm comes off, I usually throw my phone on the ground and drag myself into the shower and wonder how I’m going to maintain open my eyes on the drive. Three times in the last month, I fell asleep at the wheel, an unquestionable sign that I have to take time out and wash my mind and body, bring it into the day.
Fibromyalgia is always hard for individuals who have not experienced it either immediately or via a friend or family member. You say you’re tired of someone at 6.00 am. And they say there, too, telling you that they stayed late watching Netflix’s recent drama, and that’s what you were tired of silently desiring. Rather, when you go to bed, you feel tired and your pain is greater than the day before. When you wake, you are exhausted.
Everything’s worst when I wake at 6 a.m. The night before, I feel like I had gone to a body pump class and had a spin before bed. I feel as though my legs can snap at any moment half of the pain in my knee joints. I feel that I have fallen asleep on a cold ground of hardwood for two evenings, so I’m comfortable, my dorm is calm. I’m trying to stretch but it feels as if I’m trying to bend a plastic rule, I really can’t do it and I’m afraid I might break it if I force it. My bones are like jelly and my muscles still hit the fucking snooze button, waiting for 6 o’clock. Pain to get through.
It’s all not dooms and gloom, let’s be evident. Good days are here. There are days when I handle your health, when I think that I can run the world. I have an energy burst when I leave that bath. Those are the days that I really enjoy because I understand there are a few more days of fight beside them. Overall, I suppose, I’m pretty happy the hour is six o’clock. The worst part of the day is a thing of the past at least 7 a.m.
Before taking any medication always concern your health care provider and it is important to be diagnosed correctly. Stay Healthizes!
That will be 7:30 p.m. I’ll be in bed on a Friday night. So, I’m next to my husband and pets. There is nothing new here, and frankly, most of our friends do the same thing, but I wouldn’t really understand.
It wasn’t the diagnosis or the pain that led me to avoid parties inviting my wives and happy-hour texts. When I started to drift so far, I don’t really remember, but I’ve realized lately that I miss my friends. My brothers and sisters. And my brothers. And my ex-friends. I miss speaking to individuals. I miss speaking to individuals. I miss my girlfriends really laughing loudly. My husband is even beautiful and surprising when he’s at a crowd I miss.
However, I wonder what my friends and relatives believe, which we seldom see anymore. I suppose they believe that my spouse and I are still in the lunches, that our children maintain us busy, or they may not think about it twice. However, I bet for a second, they haven’t believed I’ve missed almost every chance of seeing them in the past couple of years.
Therefore if I have done that for dinner, or for dinner, I was likely a nervous wreck. I had even considered canceling the day before, or just did not show up, I have delayed or used my typical “maybe,” or “maybe,” replies they have all found out are the same as an “no.”
In fact, I’m no longer a nice faker. I just hurt. I hurt. I hurt recently more often than not. Everything hurts. Everything. I have decided to let everyone I love to think I am really busy and head over heels in love, and they’re the ones who aren’t in line with my timetable anymore, because I’m not so excited to sound good these days. And that’s absolutely not true… so far from real.
I feel stuck, and until now I have never been happy to
admit. I don’t want to pretend I’m okay any longer. But I don’t want to grumble
or care, or sorry, or pity, about individuals. When someone asks how I felt, I
don’t want to overcome the discussion because I could speak all night. However,
uh, sometimes I really want to talk.
So, Honestly, I’ve always been the person organizing the get-togethers in my many circles, ensuring the girls drink free from the bars and throwing the best Christmas parties ever to my nieces and nephews!
And it sucks that individual could no longer be. It sucks that it doesn’t have the power to eat, let alone to host one. So, I don’t feel like my ancient self if I’m honest. And I guess I’m a little scared that my friends and families can no longer enjoy my company, so I can’t be as funny or as good in talk as they once expected. If I even do it, I’m certainly not going to shut the bar down. However, I suppose I ought to say that to them. Because I knew as I write that I would like to learn, if I were them.
So, it’s going to go here. I’m missing you all. And for the excuses, and i’m sorry. So I have hidden from you, not even lied to you, when I required you the most. I’m really sorry. I’m sorry. And I need you if I will ever discover myself. So I’ll be frank from now on and tell you when I don’t want a bra to leave the house. I’ll be honest. And, maybe instead of canceling or postponing, you can just stop by. Therefore I would like to see you. I would love to see you. I’d enjoy that very much.
Before taking any medication always concern your health care provider and it is important to be diagnosed correctly. Stay Healthizes!
If somebody understands anything about fibromyalgia, it’s pain. After all, anyone with chronic and atrocious pain caused by fibromyalgia soon discovers that his or her life is all about it.
Doctors spend a lot of time attempting to assist painful individuals. And over the years they have created a classification scheme. Visceral pain can be among the more painful and can often be indications that something is badly wrong with the body. One of the classifications is called “visceral suffering.”
It is broken into two main classifications, harmful and
neuropathic, by the most commonly accepted pain classification scheme.
Harmful pain is a regular reaction to body tissue injury or disease. The nervous system is rooted in neuropathic pain, in the meantime. Subcategories of pain include visceral pain in these classifications.
Visceral pain is categorized as harmful because it comes from within the body tissue. Visceral pain, in particular, impacts or impacts the internal organ. This classification generally applies in the abdomen to organ such as liver, lungs, kidneys and heart.
Doctors once thought that these organs could not feel pain in fact. But we now see that these bodies feel pain differently from the remainder of their bodies. You might not really feel this much pain if you said, slice your liver with a knife. However, you would experience a lot of pain if you were to twist or stretch your liver.
This is because the nervous system is structured around
these organs. These nerves are highly delicate and insensitive to certain kinds
of pain. And visceral pain is often very different than other pain kinds.
The pain is often defined as a kind of uncomfortable, uncomfortable feeling spreading through the abdomen. And the sense of where the pain actually comes from is often difficult to define. Visceral pain can also cause mood symptoms. A lot of individuals with this kind of pain report malaise or anxiety.
This should not indicate that visceral pain is not so awkward physically as other pain kinds. In reality, it can be truly an agonizing when you develop a medical condition that causes visceral pain.
For example, many people regard one source of visceral pain,
kidney stones, as the most intense physical suffering they can experience. It
was even defined by people as worse than the birth pain. The stones of the
kidney are triggered by the build-up of minerals in the kidneys which develop
into strong masses inside the bodies and must be traveled through urinary
tracts.
And in general, any disease leading to inflammation or distention (being removed) can result in severe visceral pain. One of the most prevalent circumstances for visceral pain is a heart attack, for example. And the prevalent cause of visceral pain are conditions such as inflammation of the liver (hepatitis) or clots in the veins that stop blood from being flowed to the organs.
There are many distinct, less common sources of organ pain and a doctor can diagnose what causes your pain. And this diagnosis determines how you treat your pain.
The first stage in visceral pain treatment is to assist the
patient with the pain. There are a number of ways in which medicines are
injected straight into the group of nerves to stop the feeling of pain, such as
opioid pain relievers or a nerve block.
The doctor will attempt to define what causes the pain after discovering a way to handle it. The treatment will then concentrate on resolving the underlying problem. For instance, doctors can use a machine for a condition like kidney stones to send shockwaves into the kidneys, breaking the stones in smaller pieces that are more easily passed through. In the end, what sort of therapy your doctor receives depends on your situation. If you experience serious pain, always consult your doctor as quickly as possible. You can suggest efficient therapy.
The researchers say that when people believe about fibromyalgia, often they see the elderly as suffering from it. Many Patients should have post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Fibromyalgia patients Nevertheless, fibromyalgia may affect females, males and kids. While it is discovered more frequently in females, it can affect anyone irrespective of age, race and gender. There are regular discussions among medical experts on the causes of fibromyalgia. It is the disease that was more frequently studied and studied in the last few years because of overwhelming fresh patients.
Understanding the Causes
of Fibromyalgia
The various trials carried out have identified several
causes of fibromyalgia. These causes range from a significant infection to
wounds at some stage in their life. More lately, however, studies have shown
that emotional trauma can lead to fibromyalgia. Specifically, PTSD relates to
those who develop the disease or the post-traumatic stress disorder.
Understanding the
PTSD
PTSD is a condition that has evolved in some individuals who
have had a shocking, frightening or harmful incident. This is seen in many
military males and females facing struggle, rape survivors as well as in others
facing emotional distress.
Flight of combat reaction is triggered in the individual in
a traumatic situation. They can overcome this for many individuals. In others,
however, this flight or combat reaction remains activated in the body and can
lead to several distinct problems. For instance, in circumstances that are not
so hazardous an individual with PTSD can feel stressful or frightened. When
this happens, the individual is diagnosed with PTSD.
Understanding the
link Between fibromyalgia and PTSD
Therefore many individuals are diagnosed with both illness. Therefore the principal hypothesis is that if an individual has this stress level in their PTSD systems, their serotonin concentrations fall in the brain. This leads to a rise in the P substance found in patients with fibromyalgia. PTSD people may also be able to see signs of fibromyalgia in addition to the PTSD symptoms.
They have Stomach problems that cause even
greater discomfort
Therefore the connection between posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and fibromyalgia syndrome (FMS) is increasing in the context of psychosocial studies. Fibromyalgia (FM) Patients should be evaluated for PTSD.
Several symptoms, including intractable and recurring
recollections, nightmares, avoidance of ideas or traumatic activities and
symptoms of increasing excitement, such as hypervigilance and insomnia, can
lead in traumatic occurrences. The symptoms of PTSD are common among
individuals with syndromes of chronic pain. There is little knowledge of the
interaction between these two phenomena.
Therefore in contrast with patients with two stomach circumstances (dyspepsia and achalasia). Female having chronic pain are mostly have PTSD and fibromyalgia. The research also showed a relationship between pain severity and PTSD severity in these patients.
Nevertheless, few studies examined whether these events were associated with posttraumatic stress disorder. Because to do this, 154 females with chronically prevalent pain and FM were registered by scientists. Additionally, 83 females with functional dyspepsia and 53 females with achalasia a disease where esophagus does not hold food down were enrolled.
Therefore researchers assessed patients with a questionnaire on childhood trauma and an auto-inventory of PTSD.
At least one childhood traumatic event was recorded in 49
percent of the chronically prevalent pain and FM patients, while 23.4 percent
reported Achalasia and 39.7 percent reported functionally disreputable
patients.
The distinction between achalasia and fibromyalgia was only
substantial.
Therefore when scientists looked at PTTSD score: because 26% of patients suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder and chronic pain, as opposed to 12.2% of patients suffering from achalasia, only 4.9% of patients suffering from functional dyspepsia.
So, the severity of PTSD in fibromyalgia was greater, with more traumatic occurrences connected to more severe PTSD in those who reported trauma.
Also linked to both the qualitative and the quantitative
pain ratings, the gravity of post-traumatic stress disorder caused more and
worse pain in FM patients with the PTSD than those without it.
Therefore these results underline that fibromyalgia patients need to treat post-traumatic stress disorder, such as therapy, and thus their daily functioning.
Therefore it becomes difficult to comprehend precisely what we can do to relieve the symptoms of both, given such separate and clear relations among post-traumatic stress disorder and fibromyalgia.
So, the popular methods for handling these are somewhat distinct, but both can still be handled.
Physical treatment can also be an excellent way of fighting both fibromyalgia and PTSD. But it could also be useful for victims of PTSD who suffered a damage.
Above all cognitive comport mental therapies recommended for FM and PTSD. Because this is a way to comprehend what ideas lead to poor emotions, feelings and behavior.
Medication (FM and PTSD), although the medicines differ, is
generally used in both. The use of antidepressants is common in PTSD.
For both, group therapy is also an alternative. Those with
FM can look for a group of individuals who have the same condition so that they
understand that they are not alone.
For victims of PTSD, some profit from speaking not only about their experience but also knowing others who have experienced trauma.
