    What is Difference Between Irritable Bowel Syndrome and Carcinoid Syndrome?

    Doctors are diagnosing metastatic carcinoid tumors (MCTs) increasingly better.     While a person may develop IBS at any age, according to the Mayo Clinic, women under the age of 45 are most likely to be diagnosed with IBS. The average age of a person with an MCT, on the other hand, starts to see signs between 50 and 60.

    Check these Favorite Materials for Fibromyalgia and Lyme Relief

    Check these are some of my current favorites for managing and healing from fibromyalgia and chronic Lyme.

    1st is Coffee Enemas

    Last year I wrote a whole article about the beauty of coffee enemas, so I’m not going to go into all the details here, but coffee enemas have been an absolute game changer for me. These are helpful to alleviate pain and inflammation, improve strength and increase my concentrating capacity.

    Although I know that coffee enemas aren’t for everyone, they can be of assistance to those who are open to pursuing alternative therapies.

    2nd is Concen-Trace Mineral Drops

    In my best post in 2016, I included both oral magnesium and topical magnesium. I still use these almost every day because there are so many benefits to magnesium. Last year, my new Lyme doctor suggested adding Concen-Trace Mineral Drops to my treatment because I suspect that due to lack of appetite and overuse of cholestyramine as a binder, I owe myself a nutritional deficit.

    Magnesium is Concen-Trace’s main ingredient, but it also contains over 70 other trace minerals. It is difficult to obtain these important minerals from food alone because of industrialized farming, so using a liquid supplement such as Concen-Trace is an easy way to improve overall nutrition.

    I wish I applied Concen-Trace Mineral Drops to my regimen earlier because there are so many benefits to this stuff! Throughout my body, I’ve noticed fewer soreness/achiness, fewer leg / foot pain, fewer dizziness and lightheadedness when standing, fewer foot cramps, and my hair no longer falls in clumps!

    3rd is Otoba Bark and Cat’s Claw

    I was diagnosed with chronic Lyme disease and several co-infections soon after publishing my 2016 thesis post. My physicians at the time suggested my fibromyalgia problems are likely caused by these diseases, so that health will change as they are managed I have taken several medicines and vitamins over the years, but there are two that have made a big difference to my symptoms: otoba bark and cat’s paw (aka banderol and samento from the Lyme disease regimen for Cowden).

    Those tintings do a good job of killing and removing my body’s pathogens. I have had far less chronic pain and less overactive bladder problems since they started at the end of 2017. I know it’s the otoba bark and cat’s claw that helps with these symptoms because I stopped using them a few times and my symptoms are raging back to life.

    My fibro readers are probably thinking, “Well, that’s great, but I don’t have Lyme, so how can you help me with otoba bark and cat’s claw? “I’d first say that many of my fellow fibro fighters actually DO have undiagnosed and don’t know chronic Lyme. The test is sucking! It only detects about half of Lyme infections, so you may still have it if you’ve tested negative in the past!

    A malfunctioning immune system can lead more and more scientists to theorize fibromyalgia. Lyme and other co-infections are known to suppress the immune system, so if you think that undiagnosed infections might be a piece of the puzzle for you, it might be worth your time researching otoba bark and cat’s claw and seeing if they might be beneficial to your condition.

    4th is Whole Foods Diet

    What I eat makes a tremendous difference to my physical and mental emotions. I’m not adopting any particular diet, but I’d say it’s similar to the paleo diet if I was asked. I avoid gluten, dairy, corn, genetically modified wheat, processed sugar, most processed foods, fast foods, coffee, artificial sweeteners, and food additives such as MSG.

    You’re probably wondering if you adopt a standard American diet, “What the hell do you eat?” My diet consists mainly of whole foods: meat, seafood, fruit and vegetables. I still enjoy certain starchy foods such as white potatoes and rice, which would be a major no – no for a strict paleo.

    I’m probably eating 90 percent of the time clean. I still give myself a cheat meal here and there –usually when I eat out in a restaurant–but that medication comes with intensified digestive problems, nausea, exhaustion, and brain fog for a few days (although I’ve found that after years of eating this way, I don’t respond as intensely to off-plan foods as I once did). It’s not that I feel so much better eating clean; it’s because I feel bad when I don’t eat that way!

    5th is Medical Cannabis

    This time I saved medical cannabis because I know that not everyone has access to it. I put cannabis CBD oil on my favorite list for 2016. For those living in states where medical cannabis is not legal, Hemp CBD is an option.

    I was licensed for my state’s medical cannabis program in the fall of 2016. I’m probably a bit different from most medical marijuana users because I use it mostly to relieve pain in sleep and bedtime. I first experimented with using CBD-rich extracts for daytime pain relief, but I could never find a drug that would relieve pain without making me feel loopy.

    By bedtime, I use two varieties of Cannabis. Next, to make me relax, I vape weed so I can fall asleep. MK Ultra is my favorite type. The vaping wears off in about an hour, so I’m either taking Rick Simpson Oil or orally cooking hash to help me stay asleep. I heard of cannabis users often saying it took away their suffering completely. That wasn’t my reality, but I don’t interpret it as much as it muffles the hurt. The real benefit for me was how my sleep was deepened and extended. I woke up every hour or two after I began consuming cannabis and then tried to go back to sleep. Now I wake up an average night. Every day I’m going to take that improvement

    New Research Brings New Hope to Diagnostic Testing of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome

    Chronic syndrome of fatigue can be a disconcerting disease.

    It presents a constellation of vague symptoms to people with the condition, but there is no easy or fast way to diagnose it.

    For decades, the condition has been mystifying medical experts.

    But new research gives them hope that they will finally understand the mechanisms behind this disease and will soon be able to develop a new way to quickly diagnose it.

    It is estimated that there are between 800,000 and 2,5 million Americans with chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) or myalgia encephalomyelitis (ME).

    However, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)Trusted Source, only about 20 percent of those people were diagnosed.

    Understanding New Clues Looking

    In the hope of finding a way to quickly identify the disease, Stanford University researchers tested a variety of blood markers from 192 CFS patients called cytokines and compared them to 392 healthy patients taking cytokines.

    Last week, they published their findings in the National Academy of Sciences ‘ Proceedings.

    Cytokines are proteins that can affect the immune system and inflammation in the blood.

    The researchers tested 51 cytokines and concluded that 17 were associated with ME / CFS and its severity level with “a statistically significant.”

    The more severe the symptoms of the disease, the higher the number of cytokines.

    According to the authors of the study, 13 of the cytokines associated with the disease were pro-inflammatory.

    “There has been a lot of controversy and confusion around ME / CFS even if it’s a real disease,” said Mark Davis, PhD, professor of immunology and microbiology, and director of Stanford’s Institute for Immunity, Transplantation and Infection. “Our findings clearly demonstrate that it is an inflammatory disease and provide a solid basis for a blood test for diagnosis.”

    The disease can affect anyone, but people between the ages of 40 and 60 are more common. Women are more likely to develop the disease than men, and according to the CDC Trusted Source, it is more likely to occur in the Caucasian people.

    ME / CFS symptoms include a lower level of activity, sleep problems, and a “post-exertional discomfort” where a person may “crash” after mental or physical exertion. People with ME / CFS may also have memory or thinking problems and symptoms worsen when they are standing or sitting up.

    “I’ve seen the symptoms of this disease compounded by hundreds of patients,” said Dr. Jose Montoya, Stanford University’s Professor of Infectious Diseases and lead author of the study. “For 35 years now, it has been observed and discussed, sometimes with the burden of being described as a psychological condition. But the syndrome of chronic fatigue is not at all a figment of the imagination. This is real.

    “According to the CDC, the disease also economically hits people, rising from $17 billion to $24 billion annually in medical bills and lost income.

    Understanding Helping Tests

    Dr. Sybil Marsh, a family medicine physician at the University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center, said that if patients develop symptoms of the disease first, the possibility of a diagnostic test could result in huge changes.

    “It’s not something you can go in and think you’ve got it right away,” Marsh said to Healthline.

    She clarified that, before they can be treated, patients must have symptoms for at least six months.

    “All the underlying signs and illnesses are also caused by something else,” she said.

    Marsh said if patients could be treated earlier— within days or weeks of having symptoms— they wouldn’t face months of medical uncertainty.

    Marsh also pointed out that knowing the mechanism behind the disease could mean finding a cure for the illness one day.

    “We won’t know how to treat it until we know what the process is,” she said.

    “The treatment is really about managing symptoms right now and coping with this disorder,” explained Marsh.

    Individuals with ME / CFS are usually generally treated for symptoms such as fatigue, pain, and issues with concentration, but there is no medication treating the condition itself.

    “Often people get depressed because of all the things they’ve got to lose and cut out of their lives while they’re waiting to get better,” said Marsh.

    For now, the Stanford researchers hope their work will propel the medical field to solve this disease’s mystery. We also said further studies need to be done to confirm their results for larger study populations studied over longer periods of time.

    Strong Evidence Found that the Syndrome of Chronic Fatigue is a Physical Condition

    Understanding CFS Physical Condition

    New research suggests that in people with chronic fatigue syndrome, because a specific biomarker of inflammation is present for years.

    So people with chronic fatigue syndrome frequently find it difficult to understand how they feel exhausted and painful.

    Because most people suffering from the disorder have had their symptoms dismissed as being “all in their minds,” so much like a mental illness. Therefore that’s not necessarily true.

    New research shows the first “strong” proof that chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) clinically referred to as myalgic encephalomyelitis (ME) is a physical disorder that can be caused by an infection.

    Therefore “We now have evidence confirming what millions of people already know about this disease, that ME / CFS is not psychological,” said Dr. Mady Hornig, Director of Translational Research at the Center for Infection and Immunity and Associate Professor of Epidemiology at the Mailman School in Columbia in a press release.

    Because Columbia researchers published a study that described changes in an individual’s immune system that contribute to the condition.

    “This study provides what has eluded us for so long: unequivocal proof of ME / CFS immunological failure and clinical biomarkers of illness,” said Dr. W. Ian Lipkin, Director of the Center for Infection and Immunity and Professor of Neurology and Pathology at the Mailman School in Columbia.

    The Columbia team says their work supports the hypothesis that after a serious infection, such as infectious mononucleosis, CFS may be caused in a “hit-and-run” fashion.

    The cross-sectional study, published in the Science Advances journal, included examining 298 CFS patients and 348 individuals without the condition blood plasma samples.

    Because in those with the disease, the researchers found different bio-markers produced by the immune system. So in those who have had the disease for less than three years and those who have had it for more than three years, they also found differences.

    Those who had the disease for a shorter period of time had higher amounts of different cytokine types, or molecules that regulate the defensive response of your body to inflammation and infection.

    In general, the Columbia team reports early-stage CFS patients have elevated interleukin-17A levels, a recognized biomarker of a compromised immune system.

    However the researchers added that the elevated levels of biomarkers seem to subside after three years because after an infection, the immune system became drained after failing to calm down. So they compared it for an extended period of time to an engine running at high gear.

    So “Our findings will speed up the diagnosis process after first fall ill individuals as well as discover new therapeutic approaches based on these early blood markers,” said Hornig, the study’s lead author.

    Historically, the proper diagnosis of CFS has been concerning. The Institute of Medicine (IOM) states that no diagnosis has yet been made for up to 91 percent of the 2,5 million individuals who have chronic fatigue.

    So a panel of experts at the IOM recommended earlier this month that chronic fatigue be identified as a systemic aversion exertion disease (SEID) and diagnostic criteria that better reflect scientific research be developed.

    Because an infection may also trigger psoriasis, an autoimmune disorder. So CFS is a common complaint in people with psoriatic arthritis, an inflammatory joint disease that may cause late-stage psoriasis in people.

    However before researchers would test existing or experimental drugs on patients with CFS to target interleukin-17A, they say they need to replicate their results in a study that follows patients to observe how their levels of cytokine differ over time.

    So there must be a better understanding of CFS before effective CFS treatments can occur so that it can be diagnosed earlier.

    Therefore “Early diagnosis can provide different care options that are likely to vary from those that would be available in later stages of the disease,” Hornig said.

    Fibromyalgia Warriors 6 Favorite Things for Relief

    It is extremely difficult to treat fibromyalgia. Today, I share some of my favorite tools to reduce fibromyalgia symptoms.

    I bet your attention was drawn to that headline. I say because I have written my share of these sorts of articles over the years, praying that one of my fellow fibromyalgia fighters finally found a way to put an end to my misery.

    But if you have fibromyalgia, you know that this is the ficklest of conditions. It doesn’t necessarily work for others what does for one of us. We have on the market three medications approved by the FDA, and yet none of them work more than half of the time. No one knows even what causes fibromyalgia, let alone how to get rid of it.

    Yet, when it seems to benefit a particular drug, supplement or lifestyle adjustment, we are left to cobble together our own treatment plans, rejoicing over small victories.

    We are all on our own journeys to treat this difficult disease, so I find that discussing what has helped our symptoms and what hasn’t helped us is important. We can all learn from each other that way.

    So, I’m sharing a few things today that helped to reduce my symptoms of fibromyalgia, hoping this information could help others. I want to be clear: they’re not remedies, and they’re not going to take away all the suffering, exhaustion, and other symptoms. These are just methods that I found helpful in my own treatment plan, and you may want to do so too.

    1st is Low-dose Naltrexone

    I’m sure my long-standing fans are sick of hearing me talking about low-dose naltrexone (LDN), but this article is definitely a contender! I pursued a series of various pharmaceuticals when I was first treated, and I could not handle any of them. Either side effects have been too serious, or they have actually not worked. I slipped one day during a desperation Yahoo search on an online survey that revealed that LDN was the most successful fibromyalgia therapy. LDN has been shown to be more active than any of the three fibro medications approved by the FDA in two small studies at Stanford University. It is the only drug that has managed me ease my discomfort, and it has a small risk of side effects, most of all. Increasing numbers of patients with fibromyalgia have found LDN effective in reducing pain and fatigue.

    2nd is CBD Oil

    CBD oil was without doubt one of the most useful things to relieve my discomfort. There are two different types: CBD based on marijuana sold online, and CBD based on cannabis distributed through pharmacies in states where cannabis is legal. As I consulted experts on marijuana, they all told me that CBD dependent on cannabis is the most powerful form because it comprises so many useful cannabinoids present in the cannabis plant.

    The hemp CBD sold online is not monitored, so there is no way for consumers to verify whether the product is safe or whether it even contains CBD. There is also a discussion about whether hemp CBD is even legal. (The DEA says no.) I plan to apply for my medical marijuana license and I’m anxious to try cannabis-based CBD to see if it works better than the hemp brand. I have also been using off and on American Shaman CBD oil for the past few months.

    3rd is D-ribose

    In two studies conducted by Dr. Jacob Teitelbaum, the energy levels of fibromyalgia and ME / CFS sufferers improved by up to 61 percent in addition to d-ribose. When I used Teitelbaum’s d-ribose protocol, I had good results. This cut my afternoon napping down dramatically and gave me an extra boost to get through the middle of the day. I no longer take d-ribose after my psychiatrist moved me to a new protocol for mood / energy supplementation, but it performed so well that I still warn others about it. Note: D-ribose can affect blood sugar levels, so diabetics are going to want to analyze it closely.

    4th is Magnesium Supplements

    I take magnesium malate or magnesium glycinate every day, and the all-over achiness that we all equate with fibromyalgia seems to be mitigated. It should also help with sleep, so I’m taking it at bedtime.

    5th is Magnesium Lotion

    My fibro pain tends to get worse as the day goes on, so in bedtime it can be brutal. Before going to bed, I always slather my whole body in magnesium lotion on my worst days. Usually it takes off the edge enough to make me sleep. My favorite of the moment is Elepure.

    6th is Quell

It’s a small electronic gadget you’re carrying around your hip in a band velcroed. It’s too hard to explain how it works here, but within few coming weeks I wrote a blog about it.
